Many Florida residents depend on prescription drugs for their health. However, these drugs are heavily regulated. If an individual is arrested and convicted of unlawful prescription drug possession, he or she often faces serious consequences. Due to the potential repercussions, those who are accused often seek legal help.
Recently, three men were arrested due to drug as well as unspecified weapons charges. The arrests occurred after authorities say they received many tips regarding drug activity at two West Tallahassee apartments. Reportedly, undercover detectives purchased drugs from the locations as part of an undercover operation.
Three men in total were arrested, ages 31, 28 and 20. The 20-year-old apparently fled but was later arrested as well. All face a number of charges related to the possession of marijuana, the stimulant Adderall, as well as $20,000 in cash that was found on the premises. Authorities say they also located three firearms, though further information concerning the weapons was not reported.
Every prescription drug possession case is unique, but every accused individual is innocent in the eyes of the law until and unless proven guilty by competent evidence that meets the strict requirements of the criminal justice system. When an individual has been accused of a serious crime in Florida, the assistance and guidance of a criminal defense attorney is often enlisted. Some cases may appear straight forward while others are more complex, but one fact remains the same -- having experienced defense counsel can help in assessing the case and ensuring that the legal rights of the accused individual are fully observed at every stage of the criminal proceedings.
