Former lobbyist accused of drug possession

A Florida man is now facing drug-related charges. The authorities say the Tallahassee man was arrested on a recent Wednesday in February. When Florida residents are faced with the prospect of defending themselves against drug possession charges, they typically consult an experienced criminal defense attorney.

The 62-year-old man's arrest took place when Tallahassee police served a search warrant at his residence. Upon entering, police allegedly discovered a house full of people with drugs and drug paraphernalia within the residence. During the police raid, nine people were arrested, including the lobbyist and owner of the house.

The man,who formerly worked as a registered lobbyist in Florida, was charged with possession of various drugs, including heroin, meth and marijuana. He was also accused of  keeping a drug house. The eight others, ages 24 to 55 years old, who were arrested face a multitude of charges. These charges include drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a drug house.

Whether at the state or federal level, the consequences of a drug possession conviction could substantially alter the life of an accused individual. Nevertheless, an accusation of criminal conduct is just that -- an accusation. No conviction is possible unless prosecutors are actually able to prove the charges in court and beyond a reasonable doubt, a standard set high intentionally in order to prevent the conviction of innocent people. An experienced criminal defense attorney in Florida will be able to help a defendant build a strong defense, as well as represent his or her best interests throughout the criminal proceedings.
